The British Shia Muslims believe that Mut’ah help them to understand their partners. As dating is not allowed in Islam and that’s why Mut’ah is best way to understand a man before full marriage, a Shia woman told media. Shia scholar told that Mut’ah was allowed in Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) era and Umar [Ibn al-Khattab, the second Caliph of Islam] banned it.

On other hand, British Sunni Scholars are opposing this. They said that it’s Haram in Islam. A Scholar argued that Prostitution is increasing in Muslim society due to temporary marriage. Another opinion said that people who involved in relationship with more than one person are practicing this.
A Sunni Muslim Umar converted to Shia sect and he had around 13 temporary marriages. He still believes that he is doing it in search of right partner. There are many other examples which show that people are adopting temporary marriage for their personal benefit.
