As earlier we reported about the Tax imposed on Smart Phones by the FBR, now the traders of the KCCI and LCCI and others have appealed to the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Khoso and the Chairman FBR Ansar Javed to cancel the Tax imposed on Smart phones through an Ad Published in Leading newspapers today.
Traders requested that the following SRO’s should not be imposed:
- SRO 140(I) 2013 for the increase of income tac from 1% to 5%.
- SRO 280(I) 2013 imposing sales tax Rs.1000 on smart phones and satellite phones and Rs.500 on Non-Smart/Basic Phones.
Traders in their Published ad said that, the imposition of these above mentioned SRO’s will result in:
- Substantial increase in illegal trade/traffic of mobile handset.
- Effecting the buying power of consumers by additional burden of paying tax multiple times by each consumer on every new purchase of handset.
- Downsizing in the sector resulting in further unemployment.
- Downward trend of Mobile Industry.
- Decrease in Govt. Revenue
Traders requested the govt not to impose the above mentioned SRO’s to save the industry.
